The Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) introduces new cybersecurity requirements for products with digital elements and represents another significant step in the evolving European cybersecurity regulatory landscape. For CISOs and security leaders, the regulation brings new considerations around governance, risk management, vulnerability handling, incident reporting and collaboration across the organization and its wider ecosystem. At the same time, CRA does not exist in isolation. With regulations and directives such as NIS2 and DORA already shaping how organizations approach cybersecurity, resilience and reporting, security leaders are increasingly having to navigate overlapping requirements, different stakeholders and multiple lines of responsibility. This growing regulatory complexity raises questions around how organizations can understand the connections between different frameworks, establish appropriate ownership and avoid creating unnecessary duplication in their security and compliance efforts.
